Sapura Energy Berhad today announced that its President and Group CEO Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin is planning to retire after leading the Group for 25 years. Tan Sri Shahril will be stepping down from his post upon reaching the retirement age of 60 on 22 March 2021.  Sapura Energy’s Board of Directors has appointed Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib as Chief Operating Officer and CEO Designate effective 1 October 2020, as part of a six-month transition.

The results demonstrate the Group’s firm commitment to turnaround the company, and its resilience in navigating the impact of the ongoing slowdown in the oil and gas industry.

Sapura Energy Berhad has announced two major project wins in South America, as well as a drilling contract win in the Ivory Coast. The total value of the three contracts is RM840 million, bringing the company’s total wins to-date to RM1.6 billion, in FY2021.

Sapura Energy Berhad is pleased to announce that its associate company, SapuraOMV Upstream Sdn Bhd together with Joint Venture partners Mitsui Exploration and Production Australia Pty Ltd and OMV New Zealand Limited have made a discovery with a positive result in the Toutouwai-1 exploration well in the Taranaki Basin, in New Zealand. The prospect is located 50 kilometres off the Taranaki coast in 130 metres of water.

Sapura Energy Berhad began financial year 2021 with a positive rebound, posting a profit-after-tax and minority interests of RM14.2 million for the first quarter ended 30 April 2020 (Q1 FY2021).
